The Weekly Stuff Podcast #112 - How I Spent My Summer Vacation, Part 2: Metal Gear, Batman: Arkham Knight, & More!

It’s time for another episode of The Weekly Stuff Podcast with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman, a weekly audio show that explores the worlds of film, television, and video games. You can subscribe for free in iTunes by following this link.

We’re back from an unexpected summer hiatus, and continuing our discussion from yesterday’s episode with more thoughts and stories from vacations, movies, video games, and more.

Here, the bulk of the discussion is video game related, as Sean gives his final thoughts on The Witcher 3, I profess my newly discovered love for the Metal Gear Solid series – just in time for next month’s The Phantom Pain – and Sean counters with his general sense of confusion and frustration at the entire Metal Gear saga.

Sean and I are in complete agreement, however, about the absolute greatness of this summer’s Batman: Arkham Knight, and while the discussion may be a few months late, we devote the majority of this episode to analyzing one of the first truly masterful games of this current console generation. This has been one of our favorite modern series from the release of Arkham Asylum six years ago, and getting to discuss this massively satisfying conclusion to Rocksteady’s incredible trilogy was definitely a treat.

Enjoy, and come back next week, and throughout the fall to come, for what will hopefully be a much more consistent podcast release schedule. With the amount of media coming our way these next four months, we certainly won’t lack for content…

The Weekly Stuff Podcast #111 - How I Spent My Summer Vacation, Part 1: Attending RTX, watching movies, talking Dragon Ball, & more!

It’s time for another episode of The Weekly Stuff Podcast with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman, a weekly audio show that explores the worlds of film, television, and video games. You can subscribe for free in iTunes by following this link.

As we have been wont to do lately, The Weekly Stuff Podcast wound up going on a bit of a hiatus this summer, as Sean and I found ourselves busy with other commitments. But we’re back, and ready for a busy fall hopefully full of podcasting, and with lots of stories and conversations left to share from the last few months, we thought we would devote this first episode back to discussing how we spent our summers, and sharing different experiences with vacations, movies, video games, and more.

It’s a two-part episode, and in this first installment, I discuss my recent trip to Austin, Texas for Rooster Teeth’s annual RTX convention, while Sean talks about his time playing J-Stars Victory Vs. Plus for the PS4. We then jump into some movie discussion, chatting about films ranging from Ant-Man to Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F.’ And in the end, we even follow up on this article I wrote back in May, about the alarming number of problems cropping up more and more in modern theatres, and how it’s sapping much of our enthusiasm for moviegoing (there are still a few great theatres in Colorado, of course – as I say on the show, my biggest recommendations would be the Alamo Drafthouse in Littleton and the Harkins Northfield in Denver).

Enjoy, and come back tomorrow for Part 2, in which we shift focus to video games, and talk an awful lot about the greatness of Batman: Arkham Knight and the strangeness of the Metal Gear Solid series.
