The Weekly Stuff Podcast #200 – Patreon Launch & Our Top 10 Favorite Films of All Time, 2017 Edition
It’s time for the special 200
th
episode of
The Weekly Stuff Podcast with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman,
a weekly audio show that explores the worlds of film, television, and video games. You can subscribe for free in iTunes by

.
For our milestone 200
th
episode, we revisit the podcast’s very first topic and take a look forward to the future of the show. With 200 episodes in our rearview mirror, we have decided to expand, and as we explain on the show, this week we are launching a Patreon page –
www.patreon.com/weeklystuffpodcast
- where listeners can help us make the show bigger and better than ever before, as we expand to producing bonus episodes, Let’s Play gaming videos, and much more! We are so excited to announce this expansion of The Weekly Stuff brand, and we hope you’ll join us for the ride!
And for our main topic on this 200
th
episode, we present a new version of our respective Top 10 Favorite Films of All Time list, which we first presented on Episode #1 of the show. Now, five years later, we are older and wiser and altogether quite different, so how have our lists changed? What do our favorite films say about us? And just how many Japanese films can Sean and Jonathan talk about in one episode? All this and more in one of our favorite podcasts we’ve ever recorded. Thanks for helping us make the first 200 such a blast – and here’s to the next 200.

It’s a surprisingly jam-packed episode this week, as we get to talk about a slew of movies, games, and TV. First up is a boatload of news, movie trailers, and more out of San Diego Comic-Con, including more DC shenanigans and an incredible look at Marvel’s
Thor: Ragnarok.
Then we talk some recent movies, with Jonathan reviewing Christopher Nolan’s
Dunkirk
and Sean catching up on the recent
Planet of the Apes
trilogy, leading to a chat about all 3 films including
War for the Planet of the Apes.
Then we talk about 3 recent (and upcoming) games: last week’s beta for
Destiny 2,
Jonathan’s thoughts on
Nintendo’s wildly fun
Splatoon 2
for Nintendo Switch, and Sean’s reaction to the amazing
Nier Automata
released earlier this year. And finally, we head to
Twin Peaks
for our latest review of
The Return
with the casually insane Part 11, an episode chock full of guns, hell portals, and cherry pie.
Enjoy, and look forward to the special 200
th
episode coming early next week!

This week brings with it some pretty monumental news, as we not only get to talk about the announcement of the 13
th
Doctor on
Doctor Who,
but that Jodie Whittaker will be the first woman to take up the iconic role. It’s a huge moment for the series, an exciting one that brings so many possibilities, some of which we ponder here. Sean also talks about the
Destiny 2
beta, Jonathan looks back on the second season of
Broadchurch
(a show written by upcoming
Doctor Who
showrunner Chris Chibnall and co-starring upcoming Doctor Jodie Whittaker), and we break down a bunch of interesting news from the past week. And finally, we dive into the dark, wonderful, surprisingly sexual insanity of
Twin Peaks: The Return
Part 10 in our weekly spoiler-cast segment.
Enjoy!
