The Weekly Stuff Podcast #343 – Chadwick Boseman Tribute, DC FanDome News, and COVID Rants

It’s time for another episode of The Weekly Stuff Podcast with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman, a weekly audio show that explores the worlds of film, television, and video games. You can subscribe for free in iTunes by following this link.

This has been a rough, difficult week in a rough, difficult year, and the sudden loss of Chadwick Boseman, best known for playing King T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther, made it all the more wrenching. We start today’s show by playing tribute to the late actor and the heroic, inspirational legacy he left behind, before moving on to discussing our lives teaching in public schools and at the University level, where impossible situations and bad policies have us slowly losing our minds. Then we hit a few big pieces of news, including the announcement of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and veteran Halo writer Joseph Staten coming on board Halo Infinite to oversee campaign development, before recapping last week’s not-Comic Con DC FanDome event, where DC showed off some big trailers, including the Snyder cut of Justice League, Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and the Batman: Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League video games.

Enjoy!

It’s time for another episode of The Weekly Stuff Podcast with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman, a weekly audio show that explores the worlds of film, television, and video games. You can subscribe for free in iTunes by following this link.

After travel and a giant inland hurricane in Iowa delayed our recording two weeks in a row, we are finally back with another jam-packed episode, full of life updates, news, and more! Jonathan talks about recording from his fancy new computer and making the switch from Mac to Windows, showing his brother Kurosawa movies, and getting into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, while Sean takes us on a trip to his Beta Corner to talk all about Marvel’s Avengers, the much-discussed superhero/Destiny game launching next month. We cover some major news, from the wild news of Halo Infinite getting pushed to 2021 and leaving the Xbox Series X without a launch game, to Epic picking a big fight with Apple and Google, to news of Rocksteady developing a Suicide Squad game. And lastly, we give our final thoughts on the incredible Ghost of Tsushima for PS4, having both completed and Platinum-ed the game, breaking down the surprisingly compelling story and characters to wrap up our multi-part review of a really special game.
