Come see me at FilmScene 101's Wes Anderson series starting next week!
"The Young Person's Guide to Wes Anderson" running 5/30 - 6/20
One of the coolest things about living in Iowa City is that we have a truly amazing non-profit theater here in town, FilmScene, that plays a stunning array of movies new and old, domestic and international, blockbuster and independent, in terrific quality. It’s been my go-to theater for several years now, and as a result, I couldn’t be more excited to share that I’ll be teaching a 4-week educational series on the films of one of my favorite directors, Wes Anderson, starting a week from today on Tuesday, May 30th.
We’re calling it The Young Person’s Guide to Wes Anderson, and it’s running every Tuesday night for 4 weeks at 6:30 pm between May 30th and June 20th. We’ll be showing 4 Anderson classics in the lead-up to his new film, Asteroid City, with a screening of the film on the big screen followed by an educational presentation and discussion hosted by yours truly! You can get a pass for the whole 4-film series for just $35, and that comes down to $25 for FilmScene members. It’s a great opportunity, and I’m getting more excited every day as I start putting materials together.
Here’s the schedule for the 4 films comprising the series:
Tuesday 5/30 - Bottle Rocket - 6:30pm
Tuesday 6/6 - The Royal Tenenbaums - 6:30pm
Tuesday 6/13 - Moonrise Kingdom - 6:30pm
Tuesday 6/20 - The Grand Budapest Hotel - 6:30pm

Note that while the films will be shown on other nights through the week, the FilmScene 101 presentations will only be on Tuesday nights - so if you want to come learn and talk about Anderson and these films with me, make sure to come on Tuesday! I would love to see you there.
