Review: Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" is a thoughtful, visually-groundbreaking examination of the power of film

Film Rating: A Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo” is another entry in the 2011 sub-genre of films exploring the nature of art in relation to life, including “Midnight in Paris,” “The Artist,” and, yes, “The Muppets.” It’s been an incredibly fruitful topic this year, and though I don’t immediately love “Hugo” as much as those three films, it may very well be the most accomplished of the bunch for its profundity and execution of vision.
