My daughter, who lives in Japan, recently went to see this movie with a group of expatriate friends, and they thought it was wonderful and hilarious. I was a dedicated Dark Shadows watcher in the 60s and my daughters got into it in re-runs, so she was delighted by the movie and its dark comedy. However, the Japanese audience went by the subtitles, which must have lost a lot in translation. Over and over, the girls would bust out laughing, and realize they were the only ones!
