Long answer: It breaks my heart not to review every episode of this last season, as was my plan. Unfortunately, life got in the way - commitments at school, which included writing 5 research papers in the span of 2 weeks, just robbed of the time necessary to do these reviews. That being said, I'm almost done with my semester, so I plan on doing a catch-up post next week, about episodes 2 through 5 of the season, and then individual recaps of 6 and 7.
And after the finale, I've got a Top 10 Episodes List and Season Ranking article in the works, which I will definitely be writing and publishing the week after the finale. So look for those too! And thanks again for the enthusiasm.
Yeah, I was thinking to myself before checking back in for a response that you probably were dealing with life shit. Happy to hear that you'll be blessing us with some more material. Dude, you are truly talented and looking forward to what you'll be cooking up with your writing, not just the Mad Men stuff.
Anyway, let me share with you a short story of how I discovered you: After Nelle Engoron who used to write for Open Salon (and also made a book from her desconstruction of Mad Men) - http://www.salon.com/writer/nelle_engoron/ - decided to stop doing her analysis, I was searching for someone to fill that gaping hole of substantive and incredible analysis that she left open. Read pretty much everything out there in the mainstream and not so mainstream press and everybody left something to be desired. Thought to use Twitter one night to search for some underground analysis and found a tweet you had just posted of a Mad Men write-up. After one paragraph I knew you were substantive and on-point. So, thanks for your hard work and check out Nelle Engoron's writing if you're not familiar with her and/or are interested.
Hey man, thank you so, so much. It really means a lot, and I am sincerely flattered.
In part due to what you wrote here, I decided to come back a little early. Thoughts on tonight's episode, and the last few weeks, are live on the site: http://www.jonathanlack.com/2015/05/mad-men-review-lost-horizon-S7E12.html
Yo Jonathan! You by far give the best analysis on this incredible show. Thank you for the added richness. Please tell me you plan on continuing.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I'm flattered.
