Film Rating: B+ Josh Trank’s “Chronicle” is a darn good movie, a superhero flick that is fresh, thought-provoking, and hard-hitting, much better than its February release date would imply. But does the film work because of its ‘found-footage’ style, or in spite of it? This is a hard question to answer. “Chronicle” legitimizes this increasingly popular aesthetic in some respects, but it also underlines some of the inherent flaws that have always prevented the handheld POV technique from becoming a mature cinematic medium.
